About the ASA 101 written test
ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat Sailing) combines a written exam with on-water skill signoff. The public ASA standard covers boat parts, sail controls, points of sail, helm commands, navigation rules, aids to navigation, required safety gear, weather judgment, crew overboard recovery, docking/mooring, and six knots.
